Córdoba, Argentina's second largest city, is a metropolis full of students, with all the nightlife youth entails! It also has a pleasant mix of city life, nature, and historical sites lined around Plaza San Martín, right in the town centre. Some examples are the Cathedral, the University of Córdoba (the oldest university in Argentina), the Cabildo (town hall), the Montserrat College, the churches of the Compañía de Jesús, of San Francisco and of San Roque, and of course, the Manzana Jesuitica (Jesuit quarters), declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Córdoba's emerging nightlife scene is the Nueva Córdoba neighbourhood, a few blocks south of the city centre. Close by is the Sarmiento Park, the largest park in town, home to the zoo and fine arts museum. Highlights: :: Alta Gracia: situated 35 km from Córdoba in the Paravachasca Valley, Alta Gracia offers interesting attractions, including The Jesuit Estancia and the "Che" Guevara House and Museum. :: Quebrada del Condorito National Park: famous for its V-shaped crack, 800 m deep and with a 1,500 m gap between the edges, and the Condorito river running through its bottom. It's one of the few places where you can see condors at a close distance; they nest on the steep southern balcony, where the view is magnificent. :: Adventure Tourism: mountaineering, trekking, horseback riding, mountain biking, paragliding, scubadiving and skydiving, are some of the great outdoors options in this region. :: Villa General Belgrano: In October, this German-influenced town, placed 90 km from Córdoba city, holds a beer festival. On this occasion, you can drink local brews, try excellent Viennese pastries, and chocolate. :: La Cumbre: located at about 98 km from Cordoba city, it's a privileged town due to its mountain's rugged surrounding areas, filled with winding roads and big stony English houses. West of La Cumbre is Cuchi Corral, a hill with a vast natural balcony with views over the Río Pinto valley and it is one of Argentina's top spots for paragliding.
