San Agustín de Valle Fértil is located 255 km from San Juan city.  It's the getaway to visit the world famous Ischigualasto and Talampaya Parks, declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.

Ischigualasto, also known as Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley), lies 78 km away from the San Agustín del Valle Fértil or 330km away from San Juan city. It's a large valley filled with fantastic eroded formations, plant and animal fossils, and dinosaur findings dating from 230 million years ago. To visit the Moon Valley you can go on an organized tour or on your own vehicle. There are also alternative circuits such as a 2 hour bike tour, a 3 hour trekking to Subida Cerro Morado (1,800 m above sea level), from where you will see amazing panoramic views of the whole park, but the most recommended one is the full moon circuit.

There are many things to do in Valle Fértil besides visiting the National Parks. You can rent a bike or go for a walk and visit the "Cristo de la Hermandad" lookout point, go trekking around the nearby lake and see lots of bird species and giant cacti; and even visit the Museo Pachamaluis or the interesting Museo Piedras del Mundo (8 km from town).
