Puerto Iguazú & Iguazú Falls – Argentina (the Northeast)
Puerto Iguazú serves as a hub for visitors to go to the world famous Iguazu Falls, chosen as one of the New Natural Seven Wonders of the World.
The Iguazú National Park and its 275 falls, a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site, belong on everybody’s bucket list! Take minimum a full day to explore the larger Argentinean side with the gigantic Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat). Boat trips to the base of the falls and activities to explore the jungle, like 4×4 expeditions, horse riding, canopy, rappelling, trekking and traditional villages visits are possible. A half-day visit to the Brazilian side with its magnificent views also shouldn’t be missed.

The amazing Iguazu Falls!
Close to Puerto Iguazú town is the Hito Tres Fronteras viewpoint where the rivers intersect and Argentina, Brasil & Paraguay meet. Walk or cycle, or buy a ticket at Iguazú’s harbor for a boat trip or evening sunset cruise to this special spot.
The Jardín de los Picaflores (humming bird garden) downtown and the Güirá Oga animal rehabilitation center and La Aripuca, just outside town, are definitely worth the visit as well as the Wanda Mines (40km away).

La Aripuca, a giant replica of a trap used by Guaraní natives.
Closer to Misiones’ capital city, Posadas, (250km from Iguazú), lies the site of the largest and best preserved mission ruins in the region, San Ignacio Miní. The site shows all the interesting aspects of the Jesuits’ quest to convert the Guaraní natives to Catholics.
