USHUAIA

Ushuaia – Argentina (Patagonia)

Ushuaia is known as the southernmost city in the world. Tierra del Fuego National Park is one of the main attractions, offering beautiful views of the Beagle Channel and its surrounding  mountainous islands. You can explore it hiking, camping, fishing, bird and beaver watching, canoeing or mountain biking.

A must do excursion is a boat tour on the Beagle Channel to see the famous lighthouse and watch sea lions, Magellan penguins, cormorants and other interesting sea birds. To learn about the local history, visit the End of the World Museum or the Maritime Museum & Ushuaia’s Old Prison.

At the authentic little fishermen’s village Puerto Almanza you should taste the catch of the day: fresh fish and the famous king crab. Also take the chair lift or walk up Martial Glacier to be rewarded by spectacular views of the southernmost tip of the earth. Definitely do the hike up to gorgeous Laguna Esmeralda or to the spectacular Ventisquera Glacier and visit the impressive Lago Fagnano and the beautiful Lago Escondido. And don’t forget to tackle one of the area’s fantastic long distance trails if this is your cup of tea!

Throughout the warmer months (Nov. to Mar.) you can take an Antarctic cruise to explore this fascinating and mysterious destination with the last minute discounted tickets offered in the agencies in town.

Ushuaia is also a famous Argentinean winter sports mecca offering many activities, including skiing & snowboarding, snowmobiling, dog sledding, ice skating, snowshoeing and ice climbing.
