VILLA DE MERLO

Villa de Merlo – Argentina (the West)

Villa de Merlo is an important tourist center located in the north east of the San Luis province, bordering the Córdoba province. You can reach it by bus from Mendoza via San Luis city (185km from San Luis), or from Córdoba city via Villa Dolores.

The village is located at the foot of the beautiful Comechingones Mountain Range (highest point 2300m) and is famous for its micro-climate. International scientists determined that it’s even the 3rd most differentiated micro-climate in the world! The healthy dry climate with more than 300 days of sun and the spectacular scenery makes it an outdoor heaven all year round, with activities such as paragliding, hang-gliding, climbing, hiking, mountain biking and 4×4 excursions.

The views are stupendous!

Definitely visit the waterfall Salto del Tigre and the old mining city called “Cerro Aspero, El Pueblo Escondido” in the mountains above Merlo by doing a 4×4 excursion. Another great place to head to in the mountains is the area of Rincón del Este with its two nature reserves: Magote Bayo & the Reserva Natural, with different trekking possibilities, the Tabaquillo waterfall and climbing walls and zip lines.

Piedra Blanca, the cozy historical part of town, is definitely worth a visit too with its old church, some museums and craft shops. The main avenue, Avenida del Sol, is the place to be for a refreshing beer or a good meal! Put on your sunglasses and enjoy some quality time in Villa de Merlo!
